IHello…my name is June Harper Hogue and as we originated from the same neck of the woods I have a question that I believe you can answer for me. First, some background for you…

Interestingly, I was born on a farm half-way between Knox City and Benjamin. My birth was recorded in Knox City while one of my brothers’ birth was recorded in Benjamin as Mother & Daddy lived in Benjamin at that time. They had moved back to the old “Home Place”—the Harper farm in Knox County by the time I arrived. We made a pilgrimage back to Knox City, Benjamin and Haskell a few years back with a small group of relatives to gather some records, note cemetery locations and gravesites of my grandparents Harper (Knox City) and other relatives buried in those locations. I did not realize that Wyman lived in Benjamin or that he graduated from Tech as did Royce and I. Small world isn’t it!

This note was send to Bob Black in response to his sending me the website to your video (which I loved!). I have shared it with friends all over the U.S. I graduated from Texas Tech in 1956 (Venita June Harper Hogue) where I met and married my husband, Royce Hogue.

The question I have for you: My parents lived on the League Estate Ranch at Benjamin (?) before I was born (12-26-33). Does this place still exist? Do you have any information on it? Mother and Daddy spoke of it so often that I would like to know more about it. When we lived on the farm at Knox City, just west of town, I can remember the wolves coming up into our front yard at night and howling. The front was simply hard barren ground with no fence around it. People are amazed at the memories I have of my early years and they have proved to be accurate. If you would be interested in my sharing some with you I would love to do so…we left the farm during the Dust Bowl days because the crops were blown out, the cows went dry, we sold the hogs to buy groceries, the hens quit laying and we were near starvation…so we moved to Kermit. We moved into a one room small house with a half tent on the back of it (sleeping quarters) with my uncle and his family (5 people) and our family of 6…11 people all living together, peacefully and thanking God that we had a roof over our heads. You can see some of my writings on Pencil Stubs.com (author June Hogue).
Sincerely,
June H. Hogue

I loved your pictures. You capture the pure beauty of Texas. However, I never really thought of the Palo Duro Canyon as "West" Texas.
To most of us West Texas is from Lubbock south.

Wyman, i have an opinion about artists and was curious if you would agree...''Artists are closest to GOD because we 'attempt' to create''...in ''THE BOOK'' the 1st line says,''In the beginning, GOD created...'' Thanks for ''ALL'' you've created Brother Meinzer...your dedication and countless ''attempts'' to create have made my life, and many many others, a much richer place! From one to another...dougsmith

We enjoyed meeting you and Sylinde and just received Eyes on Texas. Thank you for sending it right away.

We are departing Dallas by train on Oct. 11 and will be away for a few weeks, so attending your "Predator Safari" unfortunately doesn't fit our schedule; however, we will keep an eye on your site for future presentations.

We cannot adequately describe the enjoyment we derived from meeting you and experiencing your entertaining work.

Best wishes,

Evan & Patti
