The El Carmen mountains rise above the Chihuahuan desert floor in northern Coahuila, Mexico, offering an island of relief to the monotony of the scrub brush and cacti landscape below. Here the sun cuts through the morning fog as I point my lens eastward into the unnamed chasms beyond.
